8/7 Yankees @ Rays

BASEBALL IN HIGH HEELS: TV ALERT

A low hit, low score game between the Yankees and the Rays at Tropicana Field. Three hits and two walks were the only runners to reach base in the first 6 innings.

It took until the seventh for either side to look like they could produce a run. First two batters for the Yankees walked, followed by a flyout, a pitching change for the Rays, and another flyout before another walk to load the bases. Gary Sanchez struck out to end the threat.

The fourth and final hit of the game came via a double from Mike Tauchman at the top of the eighth, followed by three subsequent outs. Rays take the batters box with Adam Ottavino on the mound for the Yankees. Walk, strikeout, walk, put the Rays in scoring position. Which they do, the only run of the game scored via a sacrifice fly to center field.

Yanks would go down in order at the top of the ninth. Final score 1-0 Rays.

The teams play a doubleheader tomorrow.
