2020 Tour de France – Stage 11 Recap

Stage 11: CHÂTELAILLON-PLAGE>POITIERS

A three minute delay to the start of today’s race due to a small crash in the neutral zone due to a roundabout, riders going over the curb, and a signpost. Once the flag came down signalling the start, Matthieu Ladagnous shot off the front and didn’t look back. At one point he had a five minute lead over the peloton. With 145km to go, six riders attacked, but were reeled back in within 10km.

At the sprint point, Sam Bennett got the maximum remaining points, while Peter Sagan lost another four to him.

Ladagnous was caught with 42km left in the stage, but got the only KOM point on the stage. A crash happened with 30km to go as the riders navigated their way through town.

The sprinters and their teammates raced for the finish line, four riders crossing almost simultaneously, but it would be Caleb Ewan with the photo finish victory.
