9/9 – Yankees @ Blue Jays

BASEBALL IN HIGH HEELS: TV ALERT

The Yankees come into this game playing .500 and their playoff spot is in jeopardy.

Deivi Garcia is pitching his third game for the Yankees and Tanner Roark has the ball for Toronto.

Scoring started in the second inning with a solo home run by Gleyber Torres but it was eclipsed in the bottom of the inning by a two run shot by Derek Fisher after a colliding play at first. 2-1 Blue Jays.

Third inning DJ LeMahieu hits his fifth homer of the year to tie the game.

Top of the fifth, Tyler Wade at second base, Luke Voit hits a ground ball deep to center allowing Wade to score easily. Aaron Hicks works a walk. Torres hits one to left that just barely stays fair and heads into the corner allowing Voit and Hicks to score. 5-2 Yankees.

Garcia pitches finishes the seventh inning not allowing any more runs for the Blue Jays.

LeMahieu reaches in the ninth on a throwing error. Hicks walks again. Clint Frazier gets a hit that allows LeMahieu to score and move Hicks to third. Torres grounds out to the third baseman Joe Panik, but Hicks is too fast for a clean throw to get the out at home. 7-2 Yankees.

Aroldis Chapman closes out the game with three strikeouts.

Yankees win and stay above .500.
