2020 ALDS: Rays @ Yankees – Game 4 Recap

BASEBALL IN HIGH HEELS: TV ALERT

Do or die for the Yankees in this best of five series.

 

The Bronx Bombers get on board first with a home run by Luke Voit in the second inning. Three consecutive walks load the bases with no one out. DJ LeMahieu hits a sac fly, allowing Brett Gardner to score. 2-0 Yankees.

Top of the third inning, two runners on base from a walk and a ground-rule double. Mike Zunino at bat. Jordan Montgomery throws three balls in a row into the dirt. Kyle Higashioka blocks them, keeping a run from scoring and Zunino strikes out swinging. A walk to Yandy Diaz loads the bases with only one out. Brandon Lowe hits into a force out at second, LeMahieu diving to catch the ball and tossing it to Gleyber Torres. A run scores. Yankees up to bat and Giancarlo Stanton grounds into a double play that ends with two Rays on the ground. No runs for the Yankees in the third. 2-1 Yankees.

Moving ahead to the sixth inning. Torres hits a two run blast that lands on the top balcony of the Western Metal Supply Company building. 4-1 Yankees.

Bottom of the eighth, Torres on base with a single. He steals second and slides home on a single by Higashioka. LeMahieu gets a base hit and Aaron Judge reaches on an error by Mike Brosseau to load the bases with two outs. A mound visit leads to a fly out by Aaron Hicks, caught just before the wall.

Yankees win 5-1. The series is tied at two each. Winner takes all game 5 on Friday.
