9/22 – Yankees @ Blue Jays


Aaron Judge sneaks one into left to get on base. Aaron Hicks brings him home with a RBI triple that gets away from right fielder Teoscar Hernandez. Hicks scores on a wild pitch that bounces in the dirt in front of the batters boxes. 2-0 Yankees.

Fourth inning, Gleyber Torres hits a double and scores on the next play. A home run by Cavan Biggio get the Jays on the board. 3-1 Yankees.

Fifth inning. Kyle Higashioka gets through the gap to left field. DJ LeMahieu is hit by a pitch to take a base. Judge drops a ball between the left and center fielders and LeMahieu squeaks into third base as Higashioka scores. Hicks hits one past a diving first baseman, LeMahieu and Judge reach home plate. Hicks steals second base, putting him in position to score on a hit by Torres. 7-1 Yankees.

Moving ahead to the eighth inning, two outs for the Yankees. Gio Urshela hits a ball that hops over Lourdes Gurriel Jr. who seems to lose his balance in a squat. A walk to Clint Frazier. Brett Gardner gets a base hit as Torres scores from second. The inning is dragging as the pitcher for the Blue Jays keeps stepping off the mound. Higashioka back up, he hits one that hits the top of the wall. Some confusion over whether it’s a double or a home run. Umpires call it a home run. Blue Jay challenge. It’s overturned and Higashioka returns to second base. A pitching change and a ground out end the inning. 10-1 Yankees.

Top of the ninth. Judge gets a base hit. Mike Tauchman walks and Tyler Wade flies out. Torres gets a RBI single followed by a RBI single by Urshela. Anothr pitching change that ends the inning. Blue Jays can’t get another run.

Yankees win 12-1.
