FOOTBALL IN HIGH HEELS: NFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Today is a big day for the NFL! It is Conference Championships day and we will finally find out who will be playing in the Super Bowl in two weeks. For the NFC championships we have the Green Bay Packers vs. the Atlanta Falcons and on the AFC side, we have the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the New England Patriots.
So how does it all work? More importantly, what IS the Conference Championships? We are about to find out.
As we know, we have seen our teams play in the wild card playoffs, followed by the divisional playoffs.Think of it as that week on Dancing With The Stars when the contestants must do the team dances and/or the double dances. They, like our teams, must compete harder than ever to prove they are worthy of a win. The winners from the divisional playoffs move on to where we are now, the conference championships. (This is done for the NFC and AFC, with two teams from each division left standing)
The two surviving teams from each conference’s divisional playoff games play in the Conference Championship. The winner in each division will then go on to the Super Bowl. Think of the Conference Championship as the semi-finals in a reality show, with the Super Bowl being the end goal—the finals.
Who will make it to the final round and be in the Super Bowl? More importantly, who will be our new champions?
