Gerrit Cole had the ball for the Yankees and was dealing through the first five innings, only allowing a double in the fourth. A home run from the first batter in the sixth, cracked open the door for the Orioles and they busted it wide open. Two outs, Cole walks the next two batters to load the bases from an earlier error by Thairo Estrada. A single by Ryan Mountcastle and a ground rule double by Rio Ruiz brings the score to 5-0 before Cole can get out of the inning.
Orioles add on another run via the home run after Miguel Yajure replaces Cole for the seventh.
A home run by Clint Frazier in the eighth gets a run for the Yankees and prevents a shutout, but it’s too little too late.
Orioles win 6-1.
Both teams play one more game in this series Sunday 9/6.
