2020 Tour de France – Stage 13

Stage 13: CHÂTEL-GUYON>PUY MARY CANTAL

Stage 13 was a mountainous stage with a hard uphill finish after a long day and the intermediate sprint point nestled between climbs.

Peter Sagan tried to go with the lead pack of riders as they got off the front, but was unable to stay with the leaders.

The first category 1 climb broke the field apart even further, small groups scattered along the slope leading to the Col de Ceyssat.

17 riders united off the front before the third climb of the day. By the time the group was at the intermediate sprint point, they had a lead of over 8 minutes on the peloton.

Only one crash today, but it involved three big names, Romain Bardet and Nairo Quintana got up unscathed, but Bauke Mollema was forced to abandon the tour.

As lead pack of 17 approached the end of the stage, riders launched themselves off the front, hoping to get an advantage as they climbed to the top.

In the end it was Dani Martinez who would cross first followed by Lennard Kamna.

Primoz Roglic extended his lead in the yellow jersey from 21 seconds to 44 seconds over the 2nd place rider.
