Stanley Cup Playoff Schedule for Weekend of 5/11 and 5/12

STAMFORD, Conn. – May 10, 2019 – NBC Sports’ exclusive coverage of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs Conference Finals continues Saturday night with Game 1 of the Western Conference Final at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, as Vladimir Tarasenko and the St. Louis Blues face Erik Karlsson and the San Jose Sharks. Kenny Albert (play-by-play), Mike Milbury (analyst), and Emmy-award winner Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from SAP Center in San Jose.

Conference Finals coverage continues Sunday on NBC, as Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins host Justin Williams and the Carolina Hurricanes at 3 p.m. ET in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final. Six-time Emmy award winner Mike “Doc” Emrick(play-by-play), U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from TD Garden in Boston.

WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL GAME 1 – ST. LOUIS BLUES AT SAN JOSE SHARKS SATURDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Both the Sharks and the Blues advanced to their second Western Conference Final in four seasons with Game 7 victories. The Sharks defeated the Avalanche, 3-2, on Wednesday night, and will host St. Louis in Game 1 on Saturday night in primetime on NBC. St. Louis advanced to the Western Conference Final with a 2-1 double-overtime win against the Stars in Game 7 on Tuesday night.

Both teams make their first trip to the Western Conference Final since 2016, when San Jose defeated St. Louis in six games to advance to the Stanley Cup Final. The Sharks and the Blues competed three times against each other during the regular season, and the Sharks won two of the three matchups.

 

EASTERN CONFERENCE FINAL GAME 2 – CAROLINA HURRICANES AT BOSTON BRUINS SUNDAY AT 3 P.M. ET ON NBC

The Bruins scored four times in the third period to defeat the Hurricanes 5-2 Thursday night in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final to take the series lead after trailing Carolina, 2-1 at the 2nd intermission. The win snapped Carolina’s six-game winning streak, and marks the fourth consecutive win for the Bruins. Marcus Johansson had a goal and an assist in the effort, while Patrice Bergeron, Charlie Coyle, Steven Kampfer, and Chris Wagner each scored for Boston. Brad Marchand had two assists in the victory, and goalie Tuukka Rask made 29 saves. The Eastern Conference Final continues Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC at TD Garden in Boston.

 

CAROLINA-BOSTON DELIVERS HIGHEST OVERNIGHT FOR A CONFERENCE FINAL GAME 1 IN NBC SPORTS HISTORY

Last night’s Carolina-Boston Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final delivered a 1.71 overnight rating on NBCSN, the highest Conference Final Game 1 in NBC Sports history and up 53% vs. last year’s Game 1 (WSH-TB, 1.12).

Locally, Raleigh delivered an 8.1 rating, the second-highest for a Conference Final game on record in the market. It trails only Game 7 vs. Buffalo (10.3) in 2006, which propelled the Hurricanes on to their only Stanley Cup championship. Boston scored a 14.8 rating, and NBCSN was the No. 1 network in both markets during the game.

 

2019 STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS ARE MOST-WATCHED ON RECORD THROUGH SECOND ROUND

With 34 one-goal games, 15 overtime contests, and five Game 7s through two rounds, the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs are setting national, local and digital viewership and consumption milestones, according to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics.

  • For the entire 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, NBC Sports is averaging a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 1.073 million viewers across NBC, NBCSN, CNBC, USA Network, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, making it the most-watched playoffs on record through two rounds.
  • NBC Sports’ cable coverage of the 2019 playoffs across NBCSN, CNBC, USA Network, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, is averaging a TAD of 911,000 viewers, making it the most-watched cable delivery on record through the Second Round.
  • The Second Round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs stands as the most-watched Second Round on record, averaging a TAD of 1.621 million viewers across NBC, NBCSN, NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
  • Viewers have live streamed more than a half-billion minutes through two rounds (526.8 million), up 39% compared to the same time period last season.
  • Carolina, Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, St. Louis and San Jose all set local ratings records during the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
